The meeting began with introductions, including memories of Bloomsday. Don Kardong used powerpoint to illustrate his experiences helping organize the yearly Bloomsday race. The idea for Bloomsday was born after Don particpated in the Olympics - he finished 4th (was awarded the "wooden" medal by his friends) and returned home as a local celebrity. During an interview with the newspaper he suggested an idea for a street race in Spokane. A chance elevator meeting with the Mayor and a Lion Club member, who had both read the article, resulted in BLOOMSDAY 1977.

It may take a few weeks to get started, but Roxanne has volunteered to write up notes from the regular Chapter meetings, and they should start appearing here soon as blog entries. Cheryl will also be providing summary notes from the Board meetings. We plan to post those summaries here, also, in order to let you folks in the Chapter know what your Board is up to. Mostly focusing on how we can enhance your Chapter membership to deliver more value to you, the members. We encourage you to talk to the Board members directly when convenient, and/or write us using the "Contact" link above. |
